Sharp Knives At Last!

I recently purchased the Tormek T1 Knife Sharpener, and I'm impressed!
As someone who doesn't have a lot of experience sharpening knives, I was a bit nervous about tackling this myself. But the T1 makes the whole process simple and straightforward. Right out of the box, it’s clear that this sharpener was designed with ease of use in mind. The setup was quick, and the guided angle feature really takes the guesswork out of sharpening. The Tormek T1's quality design made it feel effortless to achieve a sharp, even edge on every knife I sharpened. The results speak for themselves—our knives now cut like they're brand new! If you're looking for a knife sharpener that delivers professional results with minimal effort, I highly recommend the Tormek T1.

Does sharpen

Effective but nothing like as good as shown on you tube. Does need interchangeable coarser wheel to cut extremely blunt knives quicker to the correct angle. I'm sure it took me almost an hour to sharpen a knife even though the magnet was full of ground metal. Most likely user error but unless I can work out what I'm doing wrong I would save my money and investigate other products or the higher Tormek models

Thank you for your review.
I would like to share some tips that can help you improve your results:
- The first time you sharpen a knife, it may take a little longer to get it sharp again. This is often the case if the knife was previously sharpened using a different method and you need to resharpen the angle of the knife.

- Ideally, set the angle close to or exactly to the previous angle and then sharpen the first side with a little pressure until you feel a burr all over the knife edge. Only then do you move to the other side and grind exactly the same way.

- To determine the angle, I recommend the marker method. We explain this on the Tormek website:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kJ9WygdbS0Q

- After sharpening, you hone the knife on the composite honing wheel to remove the burr. It is important that the angle is not too steep, otherwise the edge will round off and become dull again. You can also use the marker method here.

- Take a look at our YouTube videos, where we share sharpening tips and tricks:

I hope these tips will help you achieve a better result!

Overall good, but with flaws

It's easy to use but could be a lot better with some minor tweaks. The machine is compact, reasonably easy to keep clean and will sharpen a variety of knife shapes. It could be made easier though, small and thin knives catch in the felt lining and knives with a raised heel or bolster don't fit as easily as larger free edged knives.

Where have you been all my life

Wow. Simply wow. I adore cooking and bought myself some really good quality knives. This machine is the dogs do das. If there was a wheat stone sharpener I’d be in heaven. Totally worth every penny.

Good results

The knives are certainly sharp, but I would prefer a more polished edge. I complete the sharpening on a stone. Can you change the grit size on the sharpening wheel, maybe a polishing wheel that can be changed?

Perfection in Three Easy Steps

It takes only three easy steps to sharpen your knives razorblade sharp. With the Tormek T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpener you sharpen the entire bevel of your knife creating a new apex. At home, in your own kitchen!

1. Set preferred edge angle

17° is a good angle to start with if you are unsure of what angle to choose. A small angle will cut more easily, while a large angle will give a stronger edge.

2. Sharpen both sides

Insert the knife into the guide. Follow the edge profile and apply gentle pressure, as if you were slicing a tomato.

3. Hone to final finish

Remove the burr and polish the knife on the honing wheel to achieve a razor-sharp edge. Also for maintaining your knives between sharpenings.
